Good Friday - 2010
It's a beautiful spring in Flower Mound, Texas...Lilacs are blooming down the street,
redbuds, bluebonnets..are moving this way...I have heard from some of my generation
who "grew up" during W. W. II but I really want a lot more memories..Bob Frisby,
tell us some of your memories that you want to share about when you first saw Martha,
the year and where you were living..
Without all of your memories, my Blog will not be as much fun.
This is Good Friday..It's going to be a beautiful Easter..
I love you all,
Helen

Were Martha alive she'd say Bob was in WWII as a paratrooper in Germany. Returned to Baylor, got 2/Lt. from ROTC. Recalled in time for Korean war, stayed in thru Vietnam war, retired as a Colonel in 1955, spent three years in Austin then moved to Corsicana ever since. Both of us would say if we had it all to do over we woudn't have changed a thing. Bob

There was a song very popular when I was in High School by the name of "Oh, what it used to be"...We all loved that song and I was just thinking about the words.....Oh, what it use to be...
I guess every generation has thought that, but these days...these words really have meaning...
Everything "back then" was a lot simpler...We had a sneak attack by Japan @ Pearl Harbor when I was a toddler, but our "boys" enlisted, learned how to shoot something besides quail & doves,
and went "off to war".....It was probably one of the most patriotic times America has ever seen.
The women, for the most part, quit canning vegetables and fruit and learned how to build planes, tanks, jeeps and ships.....America was a war....The families were getting mail from places we had
never heard of.....Kjawalein, Normandy, Okinama.......(to be continued somtimes today....
